NC Lt. Governor Dismisses Parkland Survivors: “Spoiled” and “Irritating Noise”

North Carolina Lt. Governor Mark Robinson, a top Republican candidate for governor, has come under fire for his past remarks about the Parkland school shooting survivors. Robinson ridiculed the “spoiled, angry, know-it-all CHILDREN” who advocated for gun control following the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

According to unearthed social media posts, Robinson targeted Parkland students and activists, including David Hogg and X González, calling them “silly little immature ‘media prostitutes.'” He also suggested that the tragedy could have been prevented by a “hard-nosed nonsense conservative” implementing their ideals and principles at the school.

Robinson, known for his brash and unfiltered conservative stance, has faced criticism for antisemitic comments, transphobic Facebook posts, and remarks on homosexuality being an “abominable sin” after the Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016.

Additionally, Robinson criticized teachers’ participation in a massive 2019 protest in his state, calling it a “sad indication of why public schools are FAILING so miserably.”

As readers of The Young Turks, it’s essential to stay informed about the views and actions of those in power, particularly when it comes to issues like gun control, LGBTQ+ rights, and education. Robinson’s comments reveal a concerning disregard for the experiences of young people affected by gun violence and a lack of empathy for those advocating for change.
